The strong economy and high standard of life in Singapore are followed by the correspondingly high cost of living and some of Asia’s highest tuition fees. However when comparing tuition costs globally, it’s still a relatively inexpensive choice.
Currently, annual fees range around S$14,000 (US$10,000), but be mindful that you may end up paying considerably more depending on the university’s prominence and the type of program you pursue. The good news is that more than half of international students receive financial assistance of some way.
The current annual tuition fees at the National University of Singapore range from S$ 15,900 (US$ 11,350) to as much as S$ 50,800 (US$ 36,250) for medical and dental programs. Programs that are not government funded start at S$29,050 (US$29,050).

How to Apply to Universities in Singapore
You would need to apply directly to your chosen institution in order to study in Singapore as an international student. There may be limits on how many courses at any given institution you may apply for so make sure that you check the fine print.
Visa Application to Study in Singapore
A student visa will be required for foreign learners wishing to study in Singapore. This will be released along with your acceptance letter (also known as your in-principal approval or IPA) until a recognized university has approved your application. Your application is subject to previous accepted credentials, proof of the documents needed, and proof of appropriate English language skills.
While this automatic issuance ensures that you don’t have to think about applying for your student visa, within two weeks of getting admitted, you will have to apply to an authority known to be an Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for a Student Pass.
It must also be no earlier than two months before the start of your course and no later than one month before the beginning of your course. You will have to do this through the Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration System known as SOLAR, for which you will be enrolled by the institution where you have been admitted.
Log on to SOLAR with the registration details your school has given you to apply for your Student visa online. Valid passport information, your university address, your email address and a recent photo are required for this.
You will need to make an appointment with the ICA and carry your disembarkation/embarkation card granted upon entry to Singapore, a passport-sized photograph, a printout of a signed and completed eForm 16, a copy of your approval in principle, and a recent medical report on the correct form to complete the process after arrival in the country.
A signed copy of the terms and conditions form must also be delivered while receiving the Student Pass. When submitting your application, you will be charged S$30 (US$22) and a further S$60 (US$43) when the pass is released.
Your Student Pass would allow you to work full-time with most students during the school holidays and 16 hours a week in term time.
Financial Aids
Both national and foreign students are also entitled to apply for a tuition grant from the Singaporean Ministry of Education after being given a position on a course. This comprises a substantial part of the expense of university tuition fees.
However in exchange for this award, foreign students must sign a bond pledging them to work for a company registered in Singapore for at least three years after graduation in order to ensure that the country profits from the skills of those it educates. The length of this bond is longer for medical and dental students (five or six years).
