McGill University is a Canadian public research university in Montreal, Quebec, and is Montreal’s oldest university. There are only 3 Quebec schools that use English to teach their courses and Mcgill happens to be one of them, isn’t that great? In 1821, the university was originally founded as the first medical faculty in the country. For its research-intensive teaching method and academic growth for students, McGill has been consistently praised, allowing it to be ranked among the top universities in Canada.

Mcguill University Notable Alumni

McGill has a widespread network of more than 250,000 alumni spanning 180 nations. In their respective fields, graduates have achieved high positions and made impressive contributions. McGill University’s acceptance rate is 52% . This of course, varies according to the faculty. You should expect a lower acceptance rate if you are applying to a popular department, and if you apply to a less popular department, you will have a higher acceptance rate. For such a prestigious school, the acceptance rate is pretty good and you need to take advantage of it. If you do apply, make sure that you also apply for scholarships.

Mcgill University Admission Requirements (Undergraduate)

Applications from home-schooled students will be considered by McGill University; each case will be viewed on its own merits. You must provide McGill University with an overview of the homeschooling curriculum pursued as a homeschooled applicant and indicators of your academic acquisition in the program.

Academic Documents Required

Documents supporting your application must be directly uploaded to your Minerva file and must include;

  • A complete list of all the studied texts (and editions)
  • A written statement of purpose from you
  • A separate statement by your home instructor outlining the basis of the university application and predicting your ability to deal with the subject matter at university level
  • A confidential letter of recommendation showing your preparation for university-level research from an unbiased source.
  • Additional information and/or interview(s) with an Admissions Officer, Associate Dean, or Program Director may be required in certain instances.

Proof of English Proficiency

If you have lived and attended school in a country where English is the recognized primary language for at least four years, you are not required to provide more evidence of English proficiency.
