First Cycle Study Admission Requirements

For international students planning to study abroad in Lithuania, you will need to get the following ready;

  • A secondary/high school result

  • proof of study language proficiency
  • Pass any test given etc

Second Cycle Admission Requirements

For masters studies, it is same as above, only that you will need a Bachelor certificate and even research proposal if needed.

PhD or 3rd Cycle Admission Requirements

Just be ready to present your thesis if it is research oriented program and a valid Masters certificate in addition to the requirements above. Some schools may charge application fee.

Language Requirements for Studies at Universities in Lithuania

The required languages in Lithuania include English and Lithuanian, others are not really that important but can still count depending on your choice of program. If your language of instruction is either of the above or any one at all, you have to proof that you can speak and write with it.

This is done by either presenting a written acknowledgement from your alma mater that your previous studies was done in the language or you present a valid TOEFL or IELTS result or you enroll for a language program in the school and pass very well.

June and July is the application period for universities in Lithuania, just submit your application online at your university of choice’s website. EU students or students under Erasmus agreement should apply through such sources like the Erasmus program site or any special site for EU students’ application. Consult your school for more guidance.

Low Tuition Universities in Lithuania – Study Visa

Nationals of EU countries should not bother about visa to study in any European country. There are some selected countries that are permitted to enter Lithuania without visa but should apply for a student visa immediately after arrival or at least be for 3 months elapse.

Countries like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, USA etc. If you have valid International Passport and you are from these countries, you are qualified for a visa-free entry. Visit the embassy in your country to find out if your country is also eligible for this kind of entre because I have not listed all eligible nations.

Residence permit exemption applies to EU students, but they must register with Lithuanian Migration Department and state their address at the local district authority before seven days is over after arriving in the country.

International students should apply for a study visa via their local embassy; the fee should be about 60 euros. You will need a temporary residence permit also; you will apply when you must have arrived in Lithuania. The following documents will be required.

Admission Examinations

Some programs may required aptitude test before you are given admission; do well to sit for and pass the test accordingly in order to stand a chance of being admitted into the university to study your desired program or change to another program.
